Ho studiato ingegneria elettronica al college, mentre ho imparato a fare l’informatico da autodidatta. Ho abbandonato questo settore nel 1980 per diventare ricercatore indipendente nel campo dei social network. Gli obiettivi della mia ricerca hanno riguardato sviluppi nel campo della fisica dei dati e la scienza dei sistemi intelligenti. I am a college educated electronic engineer and a self-taught computer scientist. I quit this profession in 1980 and became a independent researcher in the field of social networking. From my research I developed the field of Data Physics and the Science of Intelligent Systems. These two fields are still ahead of their time and not recognized by the academic community yet.

La sera del 1 maggio del 2000, più precisamente a mezzanotte, stavo osservando il mio ricevitore GPS mentre l’accuratezza della posizione passava da 100 a circa 10 metri. È stato miracoloso! Ho capito quasi subito che per la prima volta nella storia, persone comuni avrebbero potuto misurare precisamente e condividere le coordinate di luoghi in qualsiasi parte del mondo.
Mi vennero in mente storie di contrabbandieri e caccia al tesoro.

Midnight on May 1, 2000 I was watching my handheld GPS as its accuracy changed from 100 meters to about 10 meters. This was miraculous! I almost immediately knew that for the first time in the history of the human race ordinary humans could discover and share precise locations anywhere on the planet. Thoughts of hiding and finding treasure and contraband came to mind. I went to bed and slept on the thoughts.
Le 1er mai 2000 à minuit, je regardais mon GPS de poche quand sa précision a changé de 100 mètres à environ 10 mètres. Ce fut miraculeux ! Je sut presque immédiatement que pour la première fois dans l’histoire de la race humaine, des humains ordinaires pourraient découvrir et partager des endroits précis partout sur la planète. Il m’est venu à l’idée de cacher et trouver des trésors et de la contrebande ! Je suis allé au lit et me suis endormi sur ces pensées.

Il giorno seguente uscii di casa con il mio GPS e provai a registrare le coordinate di alcuni punti.In seguito, utilizzando tali coordinate, ho provato a verificare che qualcuno potesse trovare una cache nascosta.Chiamai un amico esperto di GPS per provare se anche lui sarebbe stato in grado di ritrovare i luoghi partendo dalle coordinate utilizzando il suo GPS.Pensavo di nascondere un secchiello contente alcuni oggetti così iniziai a costruire quella che sarebbe diventata la prima cache (GPS Stash).Il 3 maggio feci un video degli oggetti presenti nel contenitore prima di uscire a nasconderla.A questo punto, dopo averla sotterrata, ne postai le coordinate: 45°17.460N 122°24.800W.
Next day I went out with my GPS and practiced recording and finding coordinates to verify that someone could find a hidden cache. I called a friend who was GPS skilled and had him come over and verify that he could find locations from coordinates using his GPS. I thought of hiding a bucket of items and began assembling items to put together the first GPS Stash. On May 3, I made a video of the items in the first GPS Stash.
Went out and buried the cache then posted the coordinates: 45°17.460N 122°24.800W.
Le lendemain, je suis sorti avec mon GPS et ai fait des enregistrements et de la recherche de coordonnées pour vérifier que quelqu’un pourrait trouver une géocache placée. J’ai appelé un ami qui s’y connaissait en GPS et l’ai fait venir pour m’assurer qu’il pouvait trouver des lieux à partir de coordonnées de son GPS. Je pensais cacher un seau contenant des objets et j’ai commencé à réunir des éléments pour les mettre ensemble dans la première « planque GPS ». Era un luogo isolato, facilmente accessibile. Ci passavo spesso vicino in macchina, e non si trovava distante da casa mia. In questo modo, potevo controllare spesso la cache senza difficoltà.
This was a secluded easily accessible location that I normally drove by quite often as it was near my home. This way I could check on the cache easily and often.
